Ceramics: Glazing Techniques

« back to classes page
This class is recommended for individuals with prior clay experience, throwing on the wheel, and/or handbuilding. Demonstrations will be focused on glazing rather than throwing and construction. Students will initially build a small body of work, which will be used to test different glazing techniques throughout the class. Classes will cover different glaze techniques, including mocha diffusion, bubble glazing, peacock glazing, sgraffito/mishima, shaving cream, taping, and oxides. The class will also explore basic glaze chemistry and mix up small test batches of new glazes.
