Hello!
My name is Miranda Watson and I’ll be your instructor for your upcoming Beginner Watercolor class. Here is the list of materials you will need to have a successful semester. Please make sure you bring everything on the list and let me know if you have any questions. My contact information is below. Looking forward to seeing you in class!
Materials List for Beginner Watercolors Class:
•
Daniel Smith Split Primary Set: https://amzn.to/3LjWAnm (if you already have these 6 colors in another PROFESSIONAL quality brand, please contact me and I can tell you if buying these are necessary or not). You will need these EXACT colors to follow along in class if you are a complete beginner. This set here is exactly the same: https://amzn.to/3DR5n1y but it doesn’t come with the watercolor ground, which is NOT important. Buy one of these two sets based on which costs the least.
•
Princeton Real Value Brush Set: https://amzn.to/3zxFXPn
•
Bee 100% Cotton, 140-lb. Watercolor Paper, 6” x 9”: https://amzn.to/3lZiZtL
o
Make sure you are getting the 140-lb. paper or you will be VERY disappointed. The 90-lb. paper is cheaper, but it is HORRIBLE. Buy the correct paper, please!
o
Or a pad of Arches 100% Cotton, Cold-Pressed Watercolor paper in the size 9” x 12”. https://amzn.to/4k3hFno - we use the size 6” x 9” in class every time, so it is important that you either buy the Bee 6 x 9 paper or get the 9 x 12 in Arches that you can cut into a 6 x 9 ahead-of-time.
•
Empty Watercolor Palette: https://amzn.to/4eUUvyj
•
Kneaded Eraser: https://amzn.to/3Y4qbt7
•
Masking Fluid Kit: https://amzn.to/4a597cH
•
Bleed-Proof White: https://amzn.to/3kh5khi
•
Masking Tape or Painters Tape or Artists Tape, ¾-inch or 1 inch maximum width.
•
Two Water Dishes – deep with a wide mouth like a mason jar or Gelato container.
•
Pencil. This is my favorite, but any pencil will do: https://amzn.to/3pwB4mP
•
Black Sharpie or any other Permanent Marker, fine-tip.
•
Paper Towels or Tissues
•
Rags to place under your water jars.
•
Table salt in a very small container or tiny Ziploc
•
Ruler. This is my favorite one: See-Through Westcott Ruler with Lines, 12-inch: https://amzn.to/3wVvPh0
•
Scissors or Paper Trimmer
•
Clipboard or acrylic sheet (like Plexiglass) you can tape your paper to and still move it around – make sure it is plastic and at least 12.5” x 9” or larger.
