Discover the power of spoken word through creative writing, storytelling, and performance. Led by Aurora, Colorado’s Poet Laureate Jovan Mays, this interactive workshop helps participants find their voice, build confidence, and explore how storytelling and freedom of expression can inspire dialogue, build community, and strengthen civic engagement.
Through creative writing prompts, guided exercises, and performance techniques, you'll learn to craft meaningful poetry, create vivid imagery, and connect with an audience. Participants will have opportunities to write, perform, and receive supportive feedback in an encouraging environment while exploring voice, pacing, movement, and audience engagement.
Writers, performers, educators, students, and community members of all experience levels are welcome. Come discover how spoken word can help you tell your story and connect with others.
